Microsoft is  giving away a huge 100G of space this week while Google provides an additional 2G of space for anyone looking for free storage options. With hacking, security and price being a drag of online storage sign-ups, two of the big players in the field are upping their offerings to draw in new customers. Finding more than 20G of free space online has been hard until now. Most providers charge extra with Google asking for $2/month for an extra 100G and Apple wanting $20 for a Terabyte.

At a company event today, Windows 10: The Next Chapter, executives shared what to expect with the new software when it is made available. They discussed a new browser that is coming, the price structure that will include free versions for some, and even the use of holograms for virtual workspaces.

TurboTax Deluxe has changed radically for this filing year, says MousePrint, in a warning piece about the popular tax prep computer program. MousePrint says that the usual interview parts of TurboTax which had, in the past, answered questions regarding Schedules C, D and E are not included in the package but need a costly bump-up to "Premier" editions and others. Schedule C refers to self-employment, Schedule D to investments and Schedule E to rentals and income from partnerships.

Following other fitness bands, Razer launched the Razer Nabu X at CES this week. The band provides notifications from smartphones, social band to band features, and the tracking of fitness data for the wearer. It is made of a soft rubber, one-size fits all, and is water resistant. It is available at a discounted $19.99 for Razer Insider Forum members at this time. Retail outlets will have the wearable device January 13th at a retail price of $49.99. Razer is known for their gaming devices mostly.

Microsoft’s XBox SDK Leaked Online

The Xbox Live network went down over Christmas when a DDos (distributed denial of service) attack was launched against it. Now before the end of the year, hackers from the group H4LT have put the Xbox SDK (software development kit) on the internet for anyone to download. With a tweet @notHALT, the group linked to the DSK which will allow anyone to develop games for the platform. The company does not openly give the development kit away. And developers will not be able to put their creations with the kit in Microsoft owned store fronts but the release of the kit opens up for an open source store front to emerge.

Instagram Has More Engagement Than Twitter

Data released this week by Socialbakers showed that Instagram photo posts had 50 times the engagement for big brands as similar posts on Twitter. This follows a story that the photo app surpassed Twitter in total number of accounts, 300 million to 284 million. The study looked at the top 25 brands on each network and then compared user interaction with the brand’s posts. Twitter feels that it has more reach that is not easily tracked in such reports since it allows tweets to be viewed by non-account holders.
