Changing your BlogSpot Blog to DoFollow

I have casually been running a Blogspot blog for some time mostly for linking back to my main web sites. Until today I hadn't taken the time to find out how to alter the blog from a nofollow blog to a dofollow blog. At first it seemed like altering the layout HTML would be all that was necessary but there were no nofollow tags in the code. Then I came across Tips for Blogspot which showed the needed flag 'Expand Widgets'. After selected this checkbox and replacing the two rel="nofollow" with rel="external", I was set.

Adding the DoFollow Image

The final step was added a text area widget to the top of the left panel and placing a DoFollow image into the area. After a quick Google search I came across Dajarot Studio and their nice set of DoFollow images with corresponding HTML insertion code. No my Blogspot blog is a DoFollow blog providing link love to all who comment.

Re: Changing your BlogSpot Blog to DoFollow

Almost as soon as I got done updating my site I got a message from Google that my site on Blogspot is now under review as a Spam site. I think adding Google Adsense to the site put it over the top. Not that anyone makes money with Google Adsense today. So I applied for re-verification and took Adsense off and am hoping all the blog carnivals aren't too much of a problem. (This doesn't affect CapturedTech.com or any other site I own in any way.)

Re: Changing your BlogSpot Blog to DoFollow

Many bloggers prefer to keep the no follow tag so that they don't loose any traffic.I think they're wrong there-it's a win-win situation if you do follow since more will be attracted to your site so more traffic and you're readers will leave happy.Nice post.

I agree with you @Online Dating. If you can get listed on the do follow directories, you'll get traffic from blog owners.

dofollow is a really great way of appreciating your blog commenters. it's also a good way of adding more traffic to your site. ever since I remove nofollow tag on my blog my traffic has doubled and earn some good friends.

Re: Changing your BlogSpot Blog to DoFollow

i agree that 'turning on' do follow is great and has a number of benefits, but it also means you'll have to do a lot of work filtering comments... :)

Re: Changing your BlogSpot Blog to DoFollow

By enabling DoFollow, blog users or webmasters have much more work to do. If most people are good commenter, every thing would be easier.

Re: Changing your BlogSpot Blog to DoFollow

I totally agree with you that once you had enabled Do follow, the number of posts rapidly increases! At the same tine, number of visitor increases which creates popularity for your blog! Therefore derives equation "dofollow"= more visitors

Re: Changing your BlogSpot Blog to DoFollow

Turning a nofollow blog into dofollow will increase the level of spam, but also helps your blog to get good comments to improve your blog for visitors and search engine robots. Also, if a reader is commenting on your blog with good content which is relevant and useful for your blog and visitors, then the comment should be appreciated by giving a backlink to them.

Re: Changing your BlogSpot Blog to DoFollow

Certainly by switching a nofollow blog into dofollow will increase the amount of spam, as well as bring to your blog more visitors that may leave valuable comments, i.e increases traffic and popularity of your blog, which are essentials of SEO
