How Does Flash Video Play on a Web Site?

How Does Flash Video Play on a Web Site?

There is a variety of software available that provides a quick and efficient way of embedding your encoded FLV files into your HTML pages. Once encoded FLV is added to your HTML file, it can be viewed on your web site by most browsers.  Adobe's Dreamweaver application accomplishes this by inserting a “SWF” component into an HTML page that enables the Flash file to play. This SWF component displays the embedded file whenever the site page is accessed. A set of playback control buttons will appear as well.

Making Sure Comments are Unique

As a site owner, we all the importance of keeping the content on our sites unique so to not devalue our site's ranking in the search engines. There are a number of tools to check the uniqueness of content including CopyScape, Plagium, and CopyGator. I personally like to use Plagium for content that has not yet been published and CopyScape for content that is available online. But what if your comments aren't unique. Probably not as serious as the content itself but still not something desired. If someone posts the same comments on 10 different sites, do you want the same comment posted on your site? No, because it more than likely is relative nor does it add any value to your article. But how do you know if comments are unique?

Easy Archive Pages with Some Wordpress Themes

Easy Archive Pages with Some Wordpress Themes

I built a copy of new sites within the past two weeks using a theme I found on Wordpress.org called the CopyBlogger theme. This is the theme used and distributed by the popular copy writers on the blog CopyBlogger.com. An interesting aside is that the site promotes another common theme called Thesis in the most prominent ad position on the site. With the default installation of the CopyBlogger theme you are provided with three links below the header for  Home, About, and Archives. The Home link is the only one that works prior to you creating pages names appropriately for About and Archives. See the site Debt Consolidation 2U for an example.

Site 404 Errors being Grabbed by MyBrowserBar

Site 404 Errors being Grabbed by MyBrowserBar

It's only slightly annoying when you are working on a website page and the page comes up with a 404 error when you click on a link. Even worse is when Yahoo! Search grabs the 404 error and redirects you to a custom Yahoo! 404 page with advertisements and links to other sites. The issue is that I really want to see what the link is on my site that is not available. And furthermore, my site has its own custom 404 Error page  making the Yahoo! Search error page not required. I wish I could block this for all users that come to my sites but it appears to be an installed system based search setting that needs to be modified on each individuals computer.
