A Recap Of The Affiliate Summit East 2013

The Affiliate Summit East 2013 took place in Philadelphia from August 18th to the 20th. It all went down at the Pennsylvania Convection Center in Philadelphia which was a great spot even though we were hoping for New York again this year. The conference lasted over three days and there were dozens of activities that took place each day. There were education sessions which majored in the latest trends in affiliate marketing, I tried to attend at least one each session of the day. Many people attended including merchants, affiliates and vendors. Nice to see some friends that I haven’t seen since Vegas. This conference had the highest number of attendants for the East show to date, which was approximately four thousand.

On Sunday August 18, the Affiliate Summit East 2013 kicked off. I checked-in around 8:00 AM. Shawn Collins gave an orientation to the first timers at around 10: AM. After that, there were sixteen breakout sessions which followed. These covered several topics which include blogging, affiliate programs and management as well as social media. The exhibitors set up their booths in the exhibition hall for the meat market and the normal vendor area.

Day two was pretty awesome. Dr. Randal Pinkett, who is the founder and CEO of BCT partners, gave a keynote speech. Among the major things that he talked about was the need for teamwork. He went further and gave examples of many entrepreneurs who made it in groups. That was really inspiring.  Once the exhibit hall was opened, several marketers met and there were many hours of networking. Education sessions followed thereafter. Once they were done, people had the chance to interact with experts as the round table discussions were led by the experts in the industry. At the end of the day, the affiliate ball graced the occasion.

On day three, the keynote was Will Reynolds who informed the attendants on the changes made by Google over the last year and how marketers could use them for their benefit. There was lots of networking. Rae Hoffman talked of the things she had understood from her son concerning business and life. Scholarships worth ten thousand dollars were awarded to college students as part of the education initiative. Overall this was a great conference and well worth attending. Can’t wait for Vegas again in January.
